The effectiveness of a training program using sensory integration activities to develop some common attention skills for children with autism

Research Abstract

sensory integration activities to develop some common attention skills for children with autism Abstract: The current research aimed at identifying the effectiveness of a training program using sensory integration activities to develop some common attention skills for children with autism. The research sample consisted of (6) children with autism disability, ages 8-12 years. The researcher used the quasi-experimental one-group approach and applied the Stanford-Binet Intelligence Scale (Image 4) Translation and Localization by Louis Kamel Malika, 1998, and the Autism Disorder in Child Scale (by Adel Abdallah Mohamed, 2003),The Stanford-Binet Intelligence Scale (Image 4): Translation and Localization / Louis Kamel Malika, 1998, and Child Autism Disorder Scale (prepared by Adel Abdallah Mohamed, 2003), The Common Attention Skills Scale, the Training Program (Prepared by the Researcher), the Wilcoxon Test was used to signify differences between grades, and all statistical treatments were done using the Statistical Program (Spss), The results of the research resulted that there is a presence of statistically significant differences between the mean levels of the experimental group scores in the pre- and post-measurement of common attention skills in favor of telemetry, and the absence of statistically significant differences between the mean levels of the experimental group scores in the telemetric and tracking scores of common attention skills for children with Autism disorder. The current research recommended that children with autism should be trained in common attention skills using sensory integration activities, as they contribute to their further integration into society and make them more psychologically and socially compatible.
