Research Abstract

in improving handwriting and attitude towards it in second grade pupils with learning disabilities Joint with Prof.Dr Ahmed Ashour , Edcucational Psychology, Education Faculty, Banha University. Ashour, A. & Taha, M. M. (2013). Journal of Education Faculty, Banha University, Vol. (24), No. (96), 1-50. (Joint) Abstract: This study aimed to reveal the effectiveness of a training program for the control motor development in improving the handwriting and attitude towards it in second grade pupils with learning disabilities. Study sample was comprised in its final form of (30) of pupils with learning disabilities in handwriting. Second graders' ages ranged between 11.7 and 10.8 years with an average of (8.6) years in addition to the standard deviation of (1.02). They were divided into two groups as following: an experimental group of (15) pupils who received the training program for motor control skills and a control group of (15) pupils who received no training for motor control skills. The instruments included diagnostic instruments for the study sample, such as the following: Colored Progressive Matrices (CPM) (prepared by John Raven and translated &standardized by Abdel Fattah Qurashi (1987)), Writing Disabilities Diagnostic Rating Scale(from a battery of academic and developmental Learning Disabilities Diagnostic Rating scales(LDDRS)) prepared by Fathi El- Zayat (2007 ), scales of motor control skills, handwriting, the attitude towards handwriting and training program for developing motor control (prepared by researchers). Using the appropriate statistical methods, findings were as following: there are statistically significant differences among mean scores of experimental and control groups in post measurement on motor control skill scale, handwriting scale and attitude towards handwriting scale in favor of the experimental group. There are statistically significant differences mean scores of the experimental group members in the pre - post measurements on motor control skill Scale, handwriting scale and the attitude toward handwriting scale in favor of the post measurement. Study findings were interpreted in the light of the theoretical framework and previous studies. Key words: Motor Control, Handwriting, Attitudes, Learning Difficulties
