The Effectiveness of a Counseling Program in Enhancing the Feeling of Psychological Security of Students at Residential Institutions

Faculty of Education Department of Psychology and Mental Health Abstract Researcher Name: Manar Fathy Abd el Latif Mohamed Study Title: The Effectiveness of a Counseling Program in Enhancing the Feeling of Psychological Security of Students at Residential Institutions Degree: Master’s Degree in Education ‘Specialization of Mental Health’ University: Department of Psychology and Mental Health, Faculty of Education, Beni Suef University Study Abstract: The study aims to research the effectiveness of a counseling program in enhancing the psychological security of the residential institutions schoolgirls. The study sample consists of seven schoolgirls at residential institutions, aged from (12 to 16) years, with an average age of (14.29) years, and a standard deviation of (1.28). The researcher designed and applied a measure of psychological security; and also designed a counseling program. Non-parametric statistics were applied such as Wilcoxon Test, whereas all statistical processes were done by the statistical program SPSS. The study results have shown that there are statistically significant differences between the mean scores of the individuals of the experimental groups during the pre and post measures of psychological security, in favor of the post measure. Also, there are no statistically significant differences between the mean scores of the individuals of the experimental groups during the post and consecutive measures of psychological security.

The Effectiveness of a Counseling Program in Developing Psychological Resilience and Improving Life Satisfaction of the Visually Impaired

Faculty of Education Department of Psychology and Mental Health Abstract Study Title: The Effectiveness of a Counseling Program in Developing Psychological Resilience and Improving Life Satisfaction of the Visually Impaired Academic Degree: PhD. in education, mental health specialization Study Entity: psychology and mental health dept., faculty of education, Beni –Suef University Study abstract The current study sought to develop the psychological resilience and improve the satisfaction level in the visually impaired individuals using a selective counseling program. Sample of the study comprised of (16) boys and girls of Al-Nour School for the Blind in Beni –Suef governorate. The sample members were divided into two groups (8 students as a control group and 8 students as an experimental group). They were 10 boys and 6 girls whose age ranged between (12- 16) years with an average age of (13,6) years and a standard deviation of (1.4). The study used a scale for the psychological resilience, a scale for life satisfaction and a counseling program (prepared by the researcher). The data were statistically processed with the use of SPSS. The findings indicated that there were statistically significant differences amongst the means scores of experimental group members and control group members in the post measurement on the psychological resilience and life satisfaction scales in favor of the experimental group members. There were statistically significant differences amongst the means scores of experimental group members in the pre-post measurements on the psychological resilience and life satisfaction scales in favor of the post measurement. There were no statistically significant differences amongst the means scores of experimental group members in the post- follow up measurements on the psychological resilience and life satisfaction scales. There were no statistically significant differences between the two sexes (males and females) of the visually impaired individuals on the psychological resilience and life satisfaction.
